The Jamaican Government launched the first electric bus, as part of the Government’s pilot project to replace diesel buses with more environmentally friendly ones. The bus is made by Golden Dragon and the charging solution is offered by SSE.

Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness attended the unveiling of the first electric bus at the Office of the Prime Minister in St. Andrew on Monday (January 30). He says the government is moving quickly to incorporate new, cleaner technologies into the Jamaica urban transit fleet, eventually replacing the existing combustion engine units.

The DC charging station delivered by SSE can offer efficient fast charging, and features in dynamic power distribution, intelligent temperature control and other core smart control technologies. The excellent thermal performance and high protection level makes it well adapted to Jamaica's high temperature, high humidity and rainy environment. More ebuses are hitting the streets in Jamaica this year, and SSE will keep electrifying the local public transportation.

As a leading EV charging solution provider, SSE has been actively exploring the American market. Various charging products have been successfully applied in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Uruguay, Argentina, Ecuador, Barbados, Bermuda and other countries and regions, enabling more and more users to embrace “zero carbon” travel.
