Shanghai Hongqiao center business district cooling and heating project is the key investment and construction project in Shanghai. Last March, Surpass Sun Electric (SSE) won the contract of 18 sets of soft starters ( GZRQ series of High –voltage Solid-state Soft Starter) for the start-up of air conditioning and refrigeration units.

 

In order to ensure the smooth implementation of the project, SSE started full range of after sales technical service from the beginning of the product entering into the field area. In early July of this year, SSE’s skillful and fully trained engineers did the commissioning with soft starters to improve and optimize the DSP programs for fully satisfactory of the loads. The soft starters were one-off successfully put into operation with load and the cooling system experienced 3 consecutive starting with significant performance. The measurement showed that the starting current of the 1350KW motor was only 3 times of its rated current and the starting time was 25 seconds while the starting current of the 685KW motor was only 2.6 times of its rated current and the starting time was 19 seconds. The power grid voltage drop was less than 10% of the rated voltage during the start-up of the cooling system.

 

This was the first application of high voltage solid-state soft starters designed and manufactured by SSE in regional district cooling system. Meanwhile the Mayor of Shanghai inspected the site and congratulated the successful operation of the project.
